East End residents can take household recyclables and much more to the City of Houston’s depository at 2240 Central Street, 77017. Each user can bring items to the depository up to four times per month, and must provide proof of residency (Texas driver’s license or a current utility bill or city property tax receipt). THERE IS NO CHARGE TO RESIDENTS TO USE THE DEPOSITORY! The following items are acceptable:
Furniture
Tree Waste
Stoves
Refrigerators, etc.
Up to four (4) automobile tires (Rims Not Accepted) per month, per household
Aluminum, tin, empty aerosol cans
#1 through #7 plastics, but no toys, packing materials, styrofoam, flower pots, or plastic furniture
Newspapers, magazines
Clear and colored glass bottles and jars
Cardboard
The depository won’t take household garbage or building materials. Commercial vehicles will not be admitted. Trash from commercial haulers not accepted.
