Workforce Development

The Greater East End District is charged with developing or expanding workforce training opportunities by partnering with educational institutions and other entities. The District has conducted several programs to meet this obligation.
• The District partners with Harris County Precinct 6 Constable's Office with its East End Reserve Deputy Tuition Reimbursement Program, which provides incentives to graduates of Houston Community College Law Enforcement School who have passed the TECLEOSE exam. The Reserve Deputies increase patrol visibility within the East End.
• The District completed a partnership with Ripley House, Neighborhood Centers, Inc. on a Workforce Development mapping project that paired students with Precinct 6 deputies to collect data on East End businesses. The students gained skills in electronic data entry, social networking and marketing while informing business owners about safety and security, graffiti abatement and litter clean up by the management district. Students also helped owners gain an on-line presence to promote their goods and services via the internet. The District's East End Business Directory, created during the Mapping Project, can be accessed from the link on this page.
