Clean & Green Port of Houston Project

The Greater East End District is proud to partner with the Port of Houston Authority, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, and Harris County Precinct 6 Constable for the Clean & Green Port of Houston Project which utilizes community service workers through the Harris County judiciary system to clean up litter and debris in and around Buffalo Bayou and the Houston Ship Channel.

Five days a week, a land-based crew collects litter and debris from the banks while a water-based crew works from a skimmer boat to remove litter from storm drains, banks and other natural collection areas. The program aims to collect in excess of 10 cubic yards of debris per day each year, which is enough to fill 83 garbage trucks, resulting in a cleaner and more beautiful waterway for all Houstonians to enjoy.
