East End's First Quiet Zone!
The Greater East End District helped celebrate the East End's first Quiet Zone with constituents and residents in the Canal-Runnels-Navigation area on March 4. This Quiet Zone will have an immediate impact for over 1,000 residents within a 2 block area, ranging from residents living in rent subsidized housing to luxury apartments. The Quiet Zone will also impact businesses, a local elementary school, a nationally known bilingual theater, and a city park - all within blocks of these crossings. The wonderfully innovative partnership of the private developers, and the support of the City of Houston, made this vision closer to reality. Thanks to the Houston City Council Member Ed Gonzales, Alan Atkinson, the City of Houston Traffic and Transportation and Public Works, Trammel Crow Alexan Lofts, Clayton Homes Resident Council, and Canal Place Apartments for a successful event to mark this important occasion.
