Graffiti Abatement

9,379 Graffiti Sites Abated in the East End!! 72,487 Graffiti Sites Abated Throughout Houston!!

The Greater East End Management District is proud of our award winning Graffiti Abatement Program. Since the inception of the program over ten years ago, we have abated over 9,379 graffiti sites within our East End boundaries, which cover 16 sq. miles of Houston’s historic East End. The Graffiti Abatement program directly contributes to the East End’s economic development and public safety improvement goals. The program received the Mayor’s Proud Partner award and the Greater Houston Partnership’s Quality of Life award for our efforts to improve the image of Houston’s East End.

The District operates four GraffitiMobiles, and with the generous help of our partners, we’ve outfitted the trucks with equipment that will power wash graffiti from a variety of surfaces and repaint to the pre-graffiti color. This service is available at no cost to commercial property owners within the District’s boundaries. Contact the District office at 713-928-9916, or email dhernandez@greatereastend.com, sign a waiver (available at our Document Resource Center), and our crew will visit your site to remove the graffiti or tagging.

The District works with other governmental entities, including the City of Houston, to remove graffiti and tagging. Calls to 311 will generate work orders to have graffiti abated from city/public property.

The District’s Graffiti Abatement Program continues its proactive approach to graffiti abatement with a Community Mural Program. Partnering with Keep Houston Beautiful and working with selected artists, the District enlists the talent of local school children to paint murals on designated wall settings previously tagged with graffiti. East End bus shelters also feature murals by local students and artists. Murals capture the essence of the community and reflect the diversity and flavor of the Greater East End.
