METRO
METRO is bringing light rail to the East End by 2012, with opportunities for East End residents to travel to downtown Houston, the medical center, major universities, and the Galleria. Construction on Harrisburg Boulevard will mean removal of dozens of trees that the Greater East End District, along with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, will help relocate to other areas within the district’s boundaries.
METRO Solutions East End Corridor office is open at 6215 Harrisburg to assist transit riders by providing information about local route changes and construction issues.
The management district and METRO are partners in the Bus Shelter Mural Art project, bringing local artists and students together to paint murals on bus shelter panels. Look for these colorful showpieces along Wayside Boulevard and Lawndale.
