Trees for Houston

Trees for Houston has planted more than 360,000 trees throughout Houston over the past quarter century, and the Greater East End District shares their vision for clean air and beautiful neighborhoods.

The management district and Trees For Houston partnered to plant 300 trees on Harrisburg Blvd. and Canal St., and an additional 81 trees along Texas Ave. near Harrisburg Blvd., now an East End Streetscape site.

“The District thanks Trees For Houston for their generosity and interest in the East End community,” says D.V. Sonny Flores, District Board Chairman. “The new trees represent a major investment in our neighborhoods. The District has a solid partnership with Trees For Houston. This bond contributes greatly to our revitalization efforts.”

Educating the city’s youth on the benefits of urban forests and tree life is a significant goal for Trees for Houston. Each year since 1994, the organization has planted at 25 campuses, and in 2008 the management district staff, Trees for Houston, and the Houston Dynamo planted 20 trees at J.P. Henderson Elementary School.
